Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is Barton Precision Components located?
A: 4991 Hron Road, West Bend, Wisconsin  53095. Click here for MapQuest.com directions.

Q: What can Barton Precision offer me?
A:      We provide solutions for customers where quality, delivery, service and capabilities are of a critical concern. Our engineering team works in conjunction with our customers at the project development stage to help reduce overall costs via value engineering.  With our customers, we've been able to reduce component costs by up to 40% from the initial concept.
Investments in the latest technologies increase component consistency and capability from lot to lot, thereby reducing variation at the customer's assembly level.  On a component a customer awarded to us, we were able to reduce final testing fall out from what had been 70% to zero.  This increased our customer's up time, made their assembly more efficient, and eliminated rework and scrap.
Continual improvement is identified, monitored and measured.
Our ISO 9001:2000 certification, combined with being a woman-owned business, can assist customers in need of high quality diversity suppliers.
Delivery within the local area is available.

Q: Are there any career opportunities?
A: Please see the Employment page for current career opportunities.

Q: Who is Barton Precision Components?
A: Barton Precision Components is an ISO 9001:2000 certified, woman/minority owned manufacturer of precision machined components. As we approach our 63rd year of business, our niche, as it has always been, is in complex, fine finish, close tolerance components in large or small volumes. We strive to be a solution provider to our customers who are currently dealing with quality and/or delivery related issues. Barton Precision Components values partnering with its customers from prototype through production. Through this partnership, we are able to gain a better understanding of the end application. It also provides us the opportunity to suggest changes that will result in overall cost savings for our customers.

Q: What other certifications does Barton Precision have?
A: Barton Precision is a self-certified woman owned company.

Q: Does Barton Precision have a standard lead time?
A: As each department has different work loads, the amount of time consumed to complete the product fluctuates. Also, outside operations such as heat treating and/or plating can effect the time it takes to satisfy the order. We work with our customers to flex as much as possible to meet a specific need.

Q: Does Barton Precision have bi-lingual contacts?
A: Yes. For French, please contact Valerie.
           For Spanish, please contact Raymond.

Q: What quality services does Barton Precision offer?
A: Prior to the first production run, the entire Barton team reviews the blue prints and customer specifications to assure that any potential issues are addressed on a pre-production basis. A PFMEA is developed along with a QCP. All parts go through a first piece inspection, whereby each dimension on one part from each spindle/fixture is measured for blue print compliance. In-process inspection is the responsibility of the operator and is performed based on the quality control plan requirements. In addition, on-line/real-time SPC data is collected to assure process capability, particularly on critical features. Finally, all parts go through a final inspection utilizing a C=0, 1.0 AQL sampling plan. We have the ability to develop PFMEA's and QCP's. We can perform, document and send SPC data along with PPAP's (levels 1-5) or Initial Sample Inspection Reports. We are capable of evaluating bias, stability and linearity, and performing both gauge R & R and capability studies. Barton Precision Components develops and calibrates gauges, and is continually improving its processes via investment in technology.

Q: Is Barton Precision going "green"?
A: Yes. Barton Precision has begun its "green" journey. We have started investing in new products that save energy such as automatic lights, hand-sensor paper towel dispensers, recycling bins, etc.

Q: How can Barton Precision help me reduce my total cost of acquisition?
A: In providing a highly consistent, world class quality component, purposefully packaged and delivered 'dock-to-stock' on a JIT basis, our customers can eliminate the costs of receiving inspection, material storage, non-conformances, disassembly, 'line down' situations and expediting. That being said, our ISO 9001:2000 certified facility operates on a 24/7 basis, which helps us to control our overall costs. In addition, working with our customers to produce similar components at the same time can assist in cost reductions. Valuing engineering early in the design process has proven to result in a functional product, producible at a lower cost.
